Anyone cares for a sweet dessert? Anyway, its more of a treat this summer to beat the quenching thirst and heat. I would personally suggest you to try ice scramble, well it is a Filipino version of a snow cone but as you can see the difference is what is included into it.

I do like the colorful toppings and yes of course kids do love it too especially if they see the overflowing amount of powdered milk to that toppings.

Yummy Ice Scramble!

Well, if you can see in the photo which I took at home where my brother is selling his famous ice scramble, it is filled with loving delights to fill the sweet tooth's desire. From sprinkles to colorful chocolate candies to marshmallows what more can a kid would ask for.

He sells it ranging from P 5.00 to P 20.00 pesos only which amounts to a measly $0.42 cents of yummy goodness. Well I will get back to the other cups which I said costs only cheaper than 42 cents a dollar. But your tummy can be satisfied with that as in that 42 cents there is already a topping of whipping cream, yes you heard me right, it was not cheap to include that but he just like to get his customers coming back for more.

Just don't ask me how much is the investment to start this type of business. But one thing is for sure, this is really a hit if you consider it as a business this summer. Definitely, summer is soon to go and rainy seasons starting to kick in so as well.Strawberrychocodahihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10959175062077966173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8955437429380028251.post-76421967693521825252014-11-11T15:13:00.002+05:302014-11-11T15:13:25.918+05:30Lollipop for my baby, hey it smells like Christmas!Did you see malls around you with inviting lights all around. Even feeling the excitement of Christmas soon to come? Well, for me yes and somewhat sad at the same time because my family will not be complete as hubby won't be able to come and visit us here in the Philippines. But anyway, keeping aside that thought, I just wanted to compliment on this candy and snack bar which is inside the mall of Makati City.

See the eyes of my little one tempted to taste what that big lollies are up to? Well, you can't resist sweets at times especially if you have a sweet tooth. Well, these lollies are also great Christmas decors to include but just don't expect that if some sweet tooth monster took it by surprise. Well, I guess it makes kids happy when they see hanging lollies in Christmas tree or any ornament in the house that you would decor for this holiday season. Can you now feel this season of hope and love? Well, hopefully everyday is love day for all of us.
I really don't know yet how to make fresh lumpiang sariwa as I don't know how to make a perfect crepe for this recipe. I went along with my family to visit Goldilocks where they serve also fresh lumpiang sariwa. I have missed their lumpiang sariwa for so long. So when we had the time to go there, we didn't skip the opportunity to order this delicious meal.

We also ordered pancit guisado (sauteed bean thread noodle) and their kalderetang baka which my mom used to order. Then we had ube-macapuno cake for our dessert. It is just affordable and for us it was really a fun filled day eating out with our loved ones and bonding also of our family.

I also like their rice cakes (puto) but at that time we did not order that. My tummy was happy when we got home. At least, before going back again to India I was able to experience to eat fresh lumpiang sariwa.
To worry is never a good way to our body so spend some time to eat out and dine with the family. We had porter steak and took so long when I happen to taste this again as we don't have this restaurant in India.
I don't happen to see shops selling beef cuts that is good for steak. Yes, there are beef meat stalls in our place but the problem is that they don't cut on portions like where is the softest part of the meat or if you happen to ask for the sirloin, they don't know it too.
Anyway, this streak was just great, not too rubbery although the only thing I can say is that the bottom part was a bit smokey in taste. The rice was sticky and buttery in taste. The gravy was not that great as it was too watery in consistency.
The meat was just well done, although the side dish was not fascinating at all and lacks a lot of inspiration to make it even more colorful contrasting the color of yellow which is obviously the only thing you can easily notice when they handed you the sizzling plate.
But it was made of mocha and it was good for the taste for a very affordable price too.

What I do like was the freebies given by the cake shop because they have given us enough for the cake topper, some sprinkles and a very tasty sponge cake(mamon) during the time that I purchase the cake for my son's special day.

It was 8x12 in size, mocha flavor and also affordable. It made our family happy as I share it also with my loved ones abroad when they see the cake and the sweet dessert I also bought from the same shop. But I was not happy much about the cathedral gelatin that I bought. It just didn't passed my palate (just my own taste okay), no offense to the shop. It would have been better if they have infused some sweet taste and not too hard on it.
I was really busy to look for ways to get money so that I can at least give them a happy birthday celebration.

Well, anyway, this is already a bridge over troubled water, I may not think of it at all and just go back to reality and look for other ways now. I do love birthdays and parties and celebrations. I thanked God for another year that He has been faithful to our family as He is the source of everything we have.

I do love to share this delicious pancit (bean-thread noodles) with buko pandan as dessert and ice cream and cake and biko (sweet gluten rice). I was thinking of making some pica-pica but to my dismay, most of the visitors I invited did not come, so I did not bother to prepare it at all. I will just cherish the goodness of God in our family and will not be worrying about those who did not come and celebrate this special occasion with us. May the month of November come with a special way with us all.
I just hope that you are just doing fine. For now, I will be updating my food blog since I have the time now to handle it unlike before. Anyway, Bulanglang is a famous recipe of the north, country of Philippines.

If you will see, this is usually vegetable dish sauteed with fried fish too. I do miss eating Bulanglang because we don't have bagoong(salted anchovies) sold in India. So anyway, it is just easy to cook. All you need to include in this recipe are squash, bitter gourd, okra, eggplant, spanish turnip pod and fried fish to saute along with this dish. Bulanglang will never be bulanglang without bagoong or the salted anchovies.

This is one of the recipes of the Ilokanos (northern part of the Philippines) where my mom's side is. Just like the Pinakbet, this recipe is also with bagoong as most recipes of the north prepare their dishes with this. By the way, all the photos I used in my food blog are mine and is strictly prohibited to be shared without my permission. Have a great day everyone!
Paksiw means cooked with vinegar, salt, garlic and ginger while isda means fish. I have missed this recipe because my mom used to prepare this for us. We don't even happen to have that fish she used for cooking. So since our vacation here it is timely that we taste her favorite dish.

You can also include eggplant in this delicious dish. The eggplant will really absorb the taste of the vinegar, garlic and ginger which I really appreciate the taste. But my brother is not a fan of this recipe so he just eat less whenever our mother prepares this food.

Have you also tasted this type of dish? You can try this in any small but tasty fishes. IT is just simple to prepare because the main ingredients will just be vinegar, salt, garlic, ginger, black pepper, lady finger chili, onion and vegetable such as eggplant to include. You can include water but not too much as this is not a soup recipe.
But people have different palette and tastes so it will just be fine for them to eat slugs or snails. Well, this afternoon, our lunch was snails. It was with coconut milk and lady finger chili and you can see that it was cooked in a very presentable way.

But when you ask me if I have tasted it, yes tasted! But hubby will never want to eat it. He might feel gross or something on eating snails but he likes frogs instead. Have you also tasted something exotic like this? I do believe that whenever you are in the province, you will also have the chance to taste different food offers from various cultures.

I do believe that eating such will not harm the health. Actually, it has a taboo of healing properties with them that nature has to offer. But as I have said, it will all depend on your own taste and guts to eat also such food offer. Have you tasted some snails lately?
I have been away blogging and I
do miss to write food blogs again. Well this will be my try for this year 2014
and I will be happy if I can buy my own domain name and transfer everything
that I have from this wonderful site that I have started long time back.

Well I just want to share what we
had when we went out. It was pizza and pasta from Domino's and since I have been
craving for pizza for so long, I really do like to order Barbecue Chicken and
Cheese Pizza. I really adore Domino's give away sprinkles (Chili flakes and
Oregano). I always do keep them even when we finish our pizza, we used to take
these home and I use it as a sprinkle for my other recipes and it makes the
food perfect.

I do like pan pizza than crust
types and of course pizza will always be enjoyable when hot and fluffy soft.
But I don’t have a problem even when it is already cold. For me pizza is my
comfort food and I like to take it with any cold beverages like soda, juice and
beer of course.

Well about the pasta that we
ordered, it was Italian pasta on their list but I was not satisfied on the
taste because it was too sour for my taste and pasta with white sauce shouldn't
be tasting sour. I told my husband that it looks like they have used sour cream
on the pasta instead of just using a plain white creamy sauce for the real
Italian pasta. I do know because I have been cooking and preparing white sauce
pasta for my family and I just don’t know why on earth the taste was really
sour that time we ordered our pasta.

Anyway, I guess this depends on
the variations of white sauce pasta to use but I really haven’t heard anything
about using sour cream if ever you have to mix it on pasta. By the way what is
important is that my tummy was full and we went home with our remaining pizza
on the box and we ate it after dinner. I just hope that I will have more chance
of sharing some food menu and restaurant experiences I have in here. Have a
blessed New Year to all my readers and God bless you.

Bagoong alamang or also known as
shrimp paste is my favorite for dipping green mangoes. Here in the Philippines
it is really a great combination for unripe mangoes and what I like the most
was Indian mangoes which is available in summer season.

I also do like shrimp paste in
kare-kare which is a famous dish here. But anyway I will be posting kare-kare
some other time, but for now I have to talk about green mangoes. This was given
to us by our auntie in Sta. Rosa Laguna where they have mango trees which keep
on growing sweet green Indian mangoes.

I remember when we were kids; we
just wash off these mangoes and eat it straight away without using any knife
for removing the peel. Now that my teeth are already weak after I gave birth, I
can’t do the same thing.

I do like shrimp paste that are
spicy hot, but this one on the photo was without chili because my family would
not like much chili on it.

If I have money I will buy this
kind of pizza which was really addictive and yet not expensive. We bought it at
only P170.00 which was sliced in 8 pieces of yumminess. It has tahong
(seashell), anchovies, squid, shrimp, koros (smallest shrimps), crab meat,
onion and cheesy cheddar.

We bought it at Chef Arnolds
Pizza just nearby our place and it was my first time to hear this type of pizza
joint but it was really a steal if you would ask me since I really love their
pizza when I tasted it. I will want to buy and try more of their other pizza
variants such as New Yorker, Hawaiian, Pepperoni and Mushroom, Margherita,
Chicago, Wild Wild Mushroom Cajun Pizza and more.

By the way if you ask me, I only
gave my little one some pieces of seashell, anchovies and shrimp, not yet the
squid meat. He also likes to eat cheddar cheese.

How I wish I can get juice more
on my online money so that I can buy these delicious pizzas on my mothers’
birthday and also to celebrate another month milestone for my little one. I
also like to add in the list and celebrate Father’s Day next week. How I really
have a lot of things in mind, wishing all the best. Have a yummy and tasty food
trip to all.

We checked this soup long time back before doing our monthly grocery and I can say that it is not my regular soup. It can look so yummy especially on a cold rainy day and you can really perspire after eating it. This soup though is not what I really favor of because it was a combination of ingredients which on my own opinion was a mismatch. But its okay, we do have different tastes for food and I really respect if you would like this too.
This soup is with pork wanton, crab meat, chicken bits and boiled egg. It might have missed the real flavor that I really wanted and expected, but anyway, it was something for the tummy to get filled. The noodles was not really cooked well since it was that hard and rubbery.
The price was just affordable in the pocket, but if I may have to get back again in the restaurant, I will still prefer to order other menus that they have.

Looking oily on this photo, but it was just fine. You can just add some fish sauce, calamansi (local lemon) here in the Philippines and some ground black pepper to make it more delicious. You can also add some chili oil if you want it spicy hot.

Adobo is a famous dish in the Philippines. Whether you have tasted it or not, it has different ways of preparing it depending on region. For us, we do include the black ink of the squid, although some countries may find it yucky and somewhat taboo if they really don’t eat squid.
You just need to clean the squid and remove the plastic looking strip inside it as you cook it. You don’t even have to include much water since when you cook squid, it will automatically remove off the water in its body. So when preparing this dish, what we do is to put all the ingredients in the squid like soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, black pepper, bay leaf, oil, salt and tablespoons of water.
Sorry I won’t be including the quantity of the ingredients since this depends on the number of squid you include plus the taste will vary too, if you like it less salty or if you would like it not too sour since it has vinegar, you need to taste the mixed sauce in the ingredients before putting it together with the squid.
This recipe is easily cook so you don’t need to overdo it and you don’t want it to be so dry so slow to medium flame in stove will be enough to cook this wonderful and yet delightful dish. Again, as I have said a while ago, some may never like this dish because of the blackish color of the squid ink.
It may not be that appealing to some, but to the regular customers eating adobo, I mean the original Adobo nation, Philippines, this is one delicious recipe that you should not miss out particularly if you visit the country Philippines.
You can eat this recipe with hot rice. I haven’t tried eating it with flat bread or any types of bread. But there is nothing wrong in trying out other types of food to pair it with since this is still Adobo recipe. You can never go wrong with Adobo food. But if you have any allergic reaction to seafood, then you may skip on this recipe to be safe. Have a nice day friends!

Everybody here at home loves Buco Pandan Salad. It is a famous dessert here in the Philippines with a lot of varieties that you can find such as buco pandan ice cream, buco pandan drink and much more. Buco pandan is just easy to prepare, all you need is buco strips, gelatin, all purpose cream, tapioca or pearl balls, sweetened milk and pandan leaves to make the scent more sweet and aromatic.

Just scrape the buco into strips, then cook your gelatin with pandan leaves to make that aromatic scent. Keep the gelatin aside and then cut it into cubes. Place the buco strips and mix it all together with the gelatin with all purpose cream, sweetened milk and your small tapioca balls or pearl balls.

If you may ask what gelatin to use, you can try Alsa gelatin mix, with no flavor of course. You can try the colored green gelatin for this recipe but if that gelly is flavored aside from buco pandan, then don't buy it. It will destroy the flavor if your gelatin is apple flavored.

Anyway I did not include the step by step photos for preparing this recipe. I just have the finish product, anyway if I have the time, I will do post it here. Hope you like this dessert recipe. Enjoy and have a nice day!

Just tried Californian Maki roll and some potato croquettes in Karate Kid Restaurant in Landmark Mall Makati City, Philippines. Actually, I was not familiar with this restaurant. It was just timely that we went for a grocery and our helper was the one who bought this food items and he shared it to us and it was lovely.

I will have to try again for their Californian maki because it was tasty and the dips were just perfectly fine. I will also opt to try other offers like sushi and other types of rolls available in their restaurant.

Potato croquettes was just crunchy and fine although I don't find it quite interesting since there was no twist into it. Its like a regular potato that I got used to it that is why, if there is what you call "next time", I won't be ordering potato croquettes again.

But surely their maki was delicious, so I will really recommend this. Have a nice day!

It was also timely because we were also having our vacation. So after we have fetch him at NAIA terminal no. 2, we went straight to the restaurant to eat.

It was such a voluptuous meal indeed. We selected Monster Deal Meal with extra order of two bowls of soup and fresh salad which was not that interesting since the dressing was not enough and it was too dry for me.

The chicken was not that fresh and juicy anymore. It was dry and rubbery in the mouth when you chew it. I don't have anything about Shakeys because this is still our favorite restaurant and we will always go there to eat but that branch was really not promising to me.

Anyway, what is important is that the treat was really great. We had a bonding time with family relatives and this does not happen everyday. Do you have some bonding time with family relatives too. How often and what is the occasion? Have a nice day!
Yes, at last, after so many months of waiting to be back in my own country, baby and I were able to relax by enjoying our vacation in the Philippines.

Truly it is hot and summer is in. I do like summer in the Philippines although one thing I don't like is the unpredictable weather change in our country. But for now, what I can say is that I enjoy here in Makati City. The sun is high, the sky is blue, ahhh some breeze over here and there. Baby took a bath outside and it was fun seeing him enjoy his ball toy while splashing water in the wash basin.
Anyway, this blog is still going to talk about food.

It is about Halo-halo, one of the most favorite summer snack treat of the Filipinos. Halo-halo is a sweet, cold treat for everyone who has a sweet tooth. Halo-halo or in layman's term is called mixed mix in English is composed of different ingredients like sweet potato, pearl balls or tapioca, gulaman or gelatin, leche flan, ube, langka or jackfruit, with sweetened white beans, garbanzos, corn kernels, some evaporated milk and sugar for blending it and ice cream if its really a special order.

Have some Sweet treat this summer

Well, my brother bought this halo-halo in the neighbor and we just added ice cream that we bought yesterday. It was really a fun way treat for this Holy Week and were on stay-cation (just at home and stay).
You can add more concoction for halo-halo if your adventurous and quite playful when eating like nata de coco (one of my favorite ingredients), kaong and macapuno strips.

Yummy Ice cream on Halo-halo

The invention is endless and the fun stays even more when shared with families and friends. How about you? Have you tasted Halo-halo? You can just crush ice and mix it with the ingredients I have mentioned above.Try it now to cool you down on a hot summer day!

Tempting isn't it ?! heheh!
Wow, I haven't posted anything for so long and this time ,I'm glad I can post again after being a mommy. Well anyway this food is one that I prepare for my baby although I don't cook it with too much spice so that it can be palatable for baby. The authentic mataar paneer recipe is kinda chilli since this is original Indian recipe and a favorite and easy to prepare.
All u need is green peas, be it fresh or frozen there's no issue what you can use. You also need all purpose cream to make it creamy and yummy. Soft tofu which is made of soya not the milk since the tofu produced from milk is more tough and hard and I don't suggest it. What I prefer is the soft tofu or made of soya. Just slice it into bigger cubes and you don't need to fry it.

Ingredients:
200 g. Green peas
1 big onion
2 medium tomatoes
2 cloves of garlic
1 tbps. ginger garlic paste
a pinch of turmeric powder
a pinch of chili powder (optional)
garam masala (1/4 teaspoon)
tofu (soya paneer)
salt to taste
oil
water
all purpose cream
wansoy or fresh coriander leaves (for garnishing)
1/4 tsp. jeera or cumin seeds

How to cook:

Put oil and when the oil is hot, put the jeera seeds and then saute garlic and onion and put salt to your onion. After that you can put turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, chili powder and masala powder. After this you can now put the chopped tomatoes and put a bit water. Once the tomato is mushy and soft you can now add the green peas.
Cook the green peas well so that it won't be hard and difficult for your little one to eat. Once your green peas is done, you can now add the tofu and then put the all purpose cream and sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves or wansoy. Just check the taste if you still wanted to add salt.

Anyone care to have a bite? It was an eggless cake for me so it is healthy. I am not that fuzzy about BBCC. As long as its soft and fluffy, that will all be fine.

Care for a bite?

By the way, the one you see on top of the cake was not a slice or piece of cheese but white chocolate. I thought, at first glance, it was a cheese. But when I touch it, it was hard and when I smelled it, it was white chocolate.

White chocolate on top, not cheese

Of course, like most blue berry cheese cakes, it is with blue berry syrup and blue berries. Not that creamy and cheesy though. Just enough texture and not that sweet, that is okay for me. This piece costs only Rs55.00. I don't know if that is cheap for you, but worth it cost its eggless.Strawberrychocodahihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10959175062077966173noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8955437429380028251.post-38826501696097993302012-01-02T00:37:00.000+05:302012-01-02T00:37:35.727+05:30Chicken Ala KingWelcome Year 2012! This recipe is not what I prepared in the eve of New Year. I cooked this last week and I was just late to post it here but at least I am not late to share it with you. I was just busy on preparing some of my blogs.

I just included the chickens bones, but in others recipe only meat, no bony part

Anyway you can do a lot of versions in cooking your chicken ala king. You can use carrots, mushroom, red bell pepper and other colorful veggies you like to include. What I have available that time was green peas so this is the veggie I used.

To make the sauce thick, you have two options for this one, use milk and flour or use an all purpose cream and fresh milk. What I did use was milk, all purpose cream and cheese which is really yummy.

Steamy and hot Chicken ala King

It is also easy to prepare here are the ingredients I used for this recipe:

Chicken Ala King Recipe

green peas
onion
garlic
chicken (breast part) or any meaty part
fresh milk
all purpose cream
chicken broth cubes
cheese
salt
ground black pepper
oil

Boil the chicken and cut them into pieces. On a pan put oil and once its hot, saute garlic, onion and chicken. After this put some salt and pour the green peas in. Put the sauce, wait for 3 minutes and put your ground black pepper and salt for seasoning. Add half cup chicken broth into your sauce.

For the sauce:

1 cup fresh milk
3/4 cup all purpose cream for 1/2 kilo chicken
stir the two ingredients

Creamy as this, as I want to

Make it creamy as you like it. You don't need flour if you used all purpose cream. But if you don't have a creamer, then use milk and flour and stir it well before pouring. Hope you like this recipe and again Happy New Year to you!Strawberrychocodahihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10959175062077966173noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8955437429380028251.post-15474663321024671962011-12-31T14:40:00.000+05:302011-12-31T14:40:43.242+05:30Happy New Year to AllHappy New Year to All my readers. The strawberries were really fresh and big in sizes and I decided to make it a salad. Just an easy dessert that I have shared here before.

Just clean the strawberries first using fruit and vegetable wash and then cut of the strawberries into half or to whatever cut you like. Put all purpose cream, sweetened milk or condensed milk and cut cheese in cubes and put into ref, simple and that but the delight is really wonderful.

You can also add some more fruits along with your strawberries, but its better if you put a fruit that is crunchy to munch like the spanish turnip (singkamas) or pear (the yellow one). But since pear does fade in color after some time, I still suggest spanish turnip to be best to pair with this dessert.Strawberrychocodahihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10959175062077966173noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8955437429380028251.post-41857804089781348792011-12-28T18:19:00.000+05:302011-12-28T18:19:21.770+05:30Assorted Fruit Cakes Part 2Three more days to go before we welcome New Year 2012.

Fruit cakes depends on different countries. Some are with alcohol content like rum and wine included while some fruit cakes are without alcohol content. These fruity and delicious cakes are without alcohol and are good for all including kids.

These are non-alcoholic fruit cakes

What hubby bought was kiwi cake, orange, lemon and pineapple. Its just a piece but per piece costs about Rs50+ in the cake shop of Hypercity here in Mumbai. Well, I enjoy eating cakes in the morning as breakfast, dunno why but I sure do enjoy having it with yakult, am I strange or what.
